Heads Up Racing

NO GLASS BOTTLES!!

1. North East Mud Sling (NEMS) reserves the right to change rules and classes at any time for any reason.

2. Practice & Qualifying:

Each contestant may make 2 practice runs before qualifying starts.
Practice & Qualifying order will be in the order you registered.
Each contestant must make 2 qualifying runs, 1 run in each lane.
Each contestant will qualify in lane 1 first then lane 2 in the same order.
The quickest qualifying time will be the Qualifying Time.
If you Red light during qualifying, that will be counted as a foul just as if you were racing.
If you hit a cone, that will be considered a foul.

3. Classes will be determined by Qualifying Time.

Classes will be divided into 1/2 second brackets.
Class 1 will be the fastest class of the day.
Class 2 will be the next to the fastest.
            Class 3 will be next.
Class 4 will be the slowest if there is this class.
If there is less than 4 in a 1/2 second range they will be bumped to the next class.

Classes may contain any ATV that is 2wd, 4wd, 2 stroke, 4 stroke or any size cc ATV engine.
No Dune Buggies, Go Carts or Snowmobiles. Any of this type vehicles will be in a class of their own. Outlaw Class minimum of 3 entrants, no trophies.

4. Racing

Racing will be run in double elimination. After the first run, you will return to the starting line and switch lanes. You will make your second run after the rest in the class has made their run. If a tie happens after the second run, you will return to the starting line again and the fastest qualifier will call lane choice on a coin toss.
Once established, pairings are not changed unless NEMS determines there is adequate justification for a change.

Racing Order will be the NHRA Sportsman ladder: 1vs.9, 2vs.10, 3vs.11, 4vs.12, 5vs.13, 6vs. 14, 7vs.15, and 8vs.16.
If there is a uneven number of ATVs say 11. Then the number 1 ATV gets the first bye run and the second bye run goes to the number 2 ATV or the person that beat him and earned that position on the ladder.
EXAMPLE:

Sportsman Rd 1        Sportsman  Rd 2       Sportsman    Rd 3

1 races bye                    1 races 4                      1 races 3
2 races 7                        2 races 5                      2 races bye
3 races 8                        3 races 6
4 races 9
5 races 10
6 races 11

If a racer runs 1/2sec. faster than their "qualifying time", they will be disqualified.
This will eliminate any chance of “Sandbagging” during qualifying.
Run what you brung, wide open! No Sandbagging allowed!!!
